BIOGRAPHY

JACK McKENZIE is an Award-nominated Scottish Composer, Orchestrator and Arranger for Film, Television and Video Games. A highly versatile writer, his music varies in genre and style, often maintaining a heavy emphasis on story-focused melodic or thematic writing in combination with the integration of unusual and unique contemporary techniques and sounds.

Jack’s most recent projects include Orchestration for MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: THE FINAL RECKONING (2025) and AARDMAN’s WALLACE & GROMIT: A VENGEANCE MOST FOWL (2024), and Music Preparation with the London Contemporary Orchestra on MARVEL STUDIOS’ THUNDERBOLTS* (2025) and DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE (2024). 

His music for the critically-acclaimed short documentary KALU: GROWING UP WILD (2023), narrated by GEORGE McGAVIN, earned him a nomination for "Best Original Score (Short Documentary)" at the HOLLYWOOD MUSIC IN MEDIA AWARDS (2023). KALU was further nominated for “Best Original Score - Short Film” at the INTERNATIONAL SOUND AND FILM MUSIC FESTIVAL (2024), alongside his two other scores for HEART OF THE OSA (2024) and SANDCASTLE - THE SECRET LIFE OF POTTERWASPS (2024), resulting in a very rare total of three nominations for one Composer in the same category. 

He is a frequent collaborator with fellow Scottish Composer BLAIR MOWAT, composing additional music and arranging for scores such as ITV’s McDONALD & DODDS and AFTER THE FLOOD, BBC’s MEN UP, and for MOWAT's BAFTA-nominated score for NOLLY, written by Russell T. Davies, directed by Peter Hoar and starring Helena Bonham Carter.

As well as a graduate from the prestigious BAFTA and Oscar award-winning National Film and Television School, Jack has received extensive personal mentorship from some of the industry’s most renowned and celebrated composers, including Oscar-winning DARIO MARIANELLI and Emmy-winning ADAM LUKAS. After mentoring with LUKAS, Jack regularly contributes original music to HANS ZIMMER’s BLEEDING FINGERS MUSIC and their partnered Production Music Libraries (SONY/ATV and EXTREME MUSIC)

As a tutor, Jack also creates a variety of educational content for his YouTube Channel as well as lecturing at the ROYAL CONSERVATOIRE of SCOTLAND.
