AWARDS & RECOGNITION

NATIONAL YOUTH BRASS BAND OF SCOTLAND
Jack achieved the award of 1st Place for the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland’s 60th Anniversary Composition Competition in 2018, working with renowned Brass Band Composer Alan Fernie. His winning March, We Are The Victorious was premiered at the 60th Anniversary Celebration Concert in July 2018 at the Albert Halls, Stirling. Jack was awarded 2nd Place the following year for his Solo Work for Euphonium.

ROYAL SCOTTISH NATIONAL ORCHESTRA
Jack has also worked with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, performing his composition is the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, through their Notes From Scotland event in 2017. He was awarded Runner Up in the Year of Young People Aberdeen Youth Jazz Celebration 2018 working with the Aberdeen University Jazz Orchestra.

THE REALLY TERRIBLE ORCHESTRA
Jack's was awarded Runner Up in his first composing competition in 2016, held by the Really Terrible Orchestra. His first official orchestral composition A Tale of Old was adapted for Wind Band and performed by the West Lothian Wind Ensemble in their Spring Concert Series the following year.

JAK TRUEMAN MEMORIAL AWARD
He was awarded the ‘Jak Trueman Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Music Department of West Calder High School’. After losing friend and outstanding Tuba player Jak Trueman in February 2015, Jack felt extremely humbled and privileged to receive this award the following year.

Jack’s outstanding work and commitment to the Edinburgh College Student Orchestra has earned him National recognition including a Commended Award for the College Development Network (CDN) 'Student of the Year' Award, 2019. Jack was also a Finalist in the British Education Awards 2020 for his academic results and success with the Edinburgh College Student Orchestra.
